Guest Room Attendant (Lodge) – Entry Level

Check-out to check-in in under an hour, room after room, at a boutique guesthouse in Khayelitsha. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Khayelitsha-based, with most of your time spent at a boutique guesthouse. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day

• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Well groomed
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season

• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• Experience with industrial laundry machines

• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Uniform supplied and laundered

• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
