Guesthouse Housekeeper

Housekeeping at a boutique guesthouse in Sandton is steady work with room to grow into supervising. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Sandton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day

• Grade 10 or matric
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Well groomed

• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
