Head Waiter (Family Restaurant)

You'll look after tables at a wine farm restaurant in Richards Bay, from the first greeting to the final bill. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Home base is a wine farm restaurant on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.

• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays

• Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
