Health and Safety Manager (Construction)

Every person goes home in one piece. That is the job on this building contractor in Upington. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Upington, Northern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work

• First Aid Level 1 at least
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight

• ISO 45001 internal auditor course
• Diploma in Safety Management
• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects

• Laptop and data for reporting
• Travel and site allowances
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
