Hospital Ward Cleaner

Clean really matters at a community health clinic in Phalaborwa; here it stops infections spreading. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Phalaborwa. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers

• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Respectful and discreet around patients

• An infection prevention and control short course
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
• Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare
