Hospital Ward Cleaner – Entry Level

You'll keep a frail care centre in Vereeniging safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll report in Vereeniging. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back

• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Matric or Grade 11
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty

• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
• Knowledge of healthcare waste handling rules
