Housekeeper and Cook (Family Home)

Steady household work in a family home in Hammarsdale, with clear days and hours agreed upfront. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a family home on the Hammarsdale side of KwaZulu-Natal. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Change bed linen and make beds

• Good with children and patient
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines

• Experience caring for an older person
• Non-smoker

• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
