Housekeeper and Cook (Family Home)

A family in Isando wants someone they can trust with their guesthouse with family quarters and their children. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Isando-based, with most of your time spent at a guesthouse with family quarters. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards

• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines

• Non-smoker
• Experience caring for an older person

• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Transport money for live-out staff

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
