Guests at a beachfront holiday resort in Boksburg will never meet you, but they will judge the stay by your work. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a beachfront holiday resort on the Boksburg side of Gauteng.

• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers

• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Well groomed
• Grade 10 or matric
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift

• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Uniform supplied and laundered

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
