Housekeeping Supervisor (Boutique Hotel) – Fixed-Term

You'll turn rooms around at a conference hotel in Richards Bay so every guest walks into a room that feels new. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a conference hotel.

• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers

• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Grade 10 or matric
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Well groomed

• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests

• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
