Job Description

Housekeeping keeps a serviced apartment block in Durban Central running quietly in the background. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Durban Central, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

The work, day to day

Inspect rooms against the checklist before release to front office.
Update room status on the housekeeping app or board after each room.
Do evening turndowns with chocolates and curtain closing.
Strip beds, make them up with fresh linen and square the corners.
Report broken fittings, leaks and damage to maintenance.
Wash, dry and press linen and table cloths in the laundry.
Restock minibars, amenities and tea trays and note what was used.

Must-haves

Weekend and public holiday work
Hotel, guesthouse or domestic cleaning experience
Fit enough to lift mattresses and push trolleys all day
You can finish around 14 rooms in a shift
Grade 10 or higher
Honest and trustworthy around guest belongings

Nice if you have

Chemical handling training
Basic first aid certificate
A supervisor course or time spent running a floor
