HR Generalist (Manufacturing Plant)

This private hospital in Tembisa needs an HR person who knows labour law and the shop floor. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Tembisa-based, with most of your time spent at a private hospital.

• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Run exit interviews and report turnover each quarter.
• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.
• Compile the Employment Equity report and the Workplace Skills Plan.
• Track leave, absenteeism and sick notes and act on patterns.
• Consult with shop stewards and attend union meetings.

• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA
• Confident facilitating hard conversations with managers and unions
• Good report writing and Excel

• Skills development facilitator (SDF) training
• HR system experience such as Sage 300 People or PaySpace
• Experience on a unionised site or in a bargaining council sector

• CPD and SABPP fees paid
• Company car or travel allowance for site visits
• Annual performance bonus

• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
• Name the bargaining councils or unions you have dealt with, as sector knowledge often decides the shortlist.
