Payroll Clerk (Weekly Paid Staff)

You'll run weekly and monthly payrolls for a payroll bureau in Boksburg, accurate to the cent. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Boksburg-based, with most of your time spent at a payroll bureau. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Process garnishee orders, loans and third-party deductions.
• Reconcile medical aid, pension and provident fund schedules.
• Prepare EMP501 reconciliations and issue IRP5 certificates twice a year.
• Keep payroll files and banking details secure under POPIA.
• Answer staff payslip queries clearly and in private.
• Submit the monthly EMP201 on SARS eFiling and pay PAYE, UIF and SDL.

• Strong Excel, especially VLOOKUP and pivot tables
• At least 2 years running a full payroll end to end
• SARS eFiling and EMP501 reconciliations without supervision
• Sound knowledge of PAYE, UIF, SDL and the BCEA
• Matric plus a payroll, bookkeeping or HR qualification
• Hands-on Sage 300 People, VIP, PaySpace or SimplePay

• ETI claim experience
• Multi-company or multi-country payroll exposure
• Bargaining council levy and wage-rate experience

• Medical aid and retirement fund
• Study assistance for payroll certification
• 13th cheque
• Hybrid work outside month-end week

• Be ready for a practical test calculating PAYE and overtime; take a calculator you know well.
• Mention every SARS submission you have done yourself; recruiters ask about EMP501 recons in the first call.
