HR Manager (Small to Medium Business) – Immediate Start

This manufacturing plant in Roodepoort needs an HR person who knows labour law and the shop floor. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a manufacturing plant on the Roodepoort side of Gauteng. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Track leave, absenteeism and sick notes and act on patterns.
• Coordinate training and submit SETA grant claims on time.
• Advise line managers on the Labour Relations Act and the BCEA.
• Run exit interviews and report turnover each quarter.
• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.

• Confident facilitating hard conversations with managers and unions
• Valid driver's licence for multi-site roles
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist
• Good report writing and Excel
• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation

• Experience on a unionised site or in a bargaining council sector
• HR system experience such as Sage 300 People or PaySpace

• Company car or travel allowance for site visits

• Name the bargaining councils or unions you have dealt with, as sector knowledge often decides the shortlist.
• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
