HVAC Service Technician (Office Buildings)

You'll install, service and repair refrigeration and aircon systems across Umlazi. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Umlazi. Relocation is not covered for this one. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them

• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
• SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants
• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate

• CO2 transcritical refrigeration experience in retail stores
• Building management system alarm handling
• Experience with VRF systems or chillers

• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges

• Mention whether you are comfortable on standby. Most service jobs in this trade include it.
• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
