Hybrid and EV Technician (Light Vehicles)

Fix it right the first time: that is the job at this independent service workshop in Paarl. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The site is in Paarl; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval

• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Your own basic toolbox
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4

• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
