Hybrid and EV Technician (Light Vehicles)

You'll service, diagnose and repair cars in a busy fleet maintenance workshop in Randburg. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Randburg-based, with most of your time spent at a fleet maintenance workshop. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Update control unit software when the manufacturer releases a campaign
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services

• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Your own basic toolbox
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop

• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy
• Air-conditioning regas experience with SAQCC Gas registration

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Staff discount on parts and services

• Put your trade test date and the car brands you know best at the top of your CV.
• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
