ICU Registered Nurse (Day Shift)

Bring your SANC registration and your ward experience to a private hospital surgical ward in Secunda that needs a steady pair of hands. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Secunda-based, with most of your time spent at a private hospital surgical ward. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients
• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day

• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts
• Clean criminal record
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route

• Experience with electronic patient records or bedside charting systems
• Unit manager or shift leader experience
• Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery

• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay

• List your speciality skills in plain words, such as "ventilated patients" or "normal deliveries", instead of just the ward name.
