ICU Registered Nurse (Day Shift)

This is a registered nursing post at a community day clinic in Somerset West, with your own patient load and a say in the care plan. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a community day clinic in Somerset West. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
• Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Keep clinical notes clear, timed and signed for audits and legal records
• Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls

• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Clean criminal record
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly

• Unit manager or shift leader experience
• IMCI and NIMART training for primary health care work

• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training

• Put your SANC number and the units you've worked in at the very top of your CV; recruiters filter on these first.
• List your speciality skills in plain words, such as "ventilated patients" or "normal deliveries", instead of just the ward name.
