Job Description

A financial services company legal department in Pretoria East needs an attorney who can draft, advise and stand up in court. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a financial services company legal department in Pretoria East. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements
Draft and review contracts, shareholder agreements and legal opinions
Advise clients on risk, settlement and next steps in plain language
Supervise and train candidate attorneys and paralegals
Review company processes for POPIA and privacy compliance

What you need

Sound judgement under deadline pressure
Strong drafting and legal research
Able to manage client relationships without a senior in the room
LLB and admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa

Helpful, not essential

Experience on bank or insurer panels
Notarial admission
Certificate in data protection or compliance
