Job Description

Industrial cleaners are always in demand; this crew works a poultry processing plant in Somerset West. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in Somerset West; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What your day looks like

Store chemicals in the locked chemical store with safety data sheets
Put out and check pest bait stations on the site map
Clear builders' dust, paint and cement off floors and windows after construction
Test sanitiser strength with test strips and record the reading
Lock out machines before cleaning, as the safety file requires

Must-haves

Reliable, as crews are small and each person counts
Respect for chemical safety and PPE
Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets
Not scared of heights for window or rope crews
Physically strong for wet, heavy work

Helpful, not essential

Chemical safety or HACCP hygiene training
Working-at-heights or IRATA rope access ticket

What's in it for you

Night-shift and standby allowances
Paid training on machines and chemicals
Higher hourly rate than standard cleaning
Full PPE: waterproof suits, boots, goggles and respirators

How to apply

Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): recent medical fitness certificate if you have one plus machine, chemical or heights certificates.
Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 7 working days, usually by phone.

How2Apply recruits for this position on behalf of hiring employers around Somerset West; applications go into our talent pool and shortlisted candidates are introduced directly.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

Put the machines and chemicals you have used at the top of your CV. Industrial cleaning companies hire on skills, not just willingness.
If you hold a heights or rope access ticket, attach it. It can double what you earn in this line of work.
