Industrial Cleaner (Mining Workshop) – Entry Level

Tough, messy cleaning at a commercial kitchen in Thohoyandou, paid better than ordinary cleaning. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a commercial kitchen in Thohoyandou. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Strip down and wash production equipment after the last run
• Clean drains and grease traps in commercial kitchens
• Clear builders' dust, paint and cement off floors and windows after construction
• Foam, scrub and rinse walls, floors and conveyors with approved chemicals
• Put out and check pest bait stations on the site map
• Test sanitiser strength with test strips and record the reading

• Willing to work nights and weekends when plants shut down
• Able to pass a medical fitness check for plant work
• Reliable, as crews are small and each person counts
• Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets
• Not scared of heights for window or rope crews

• Experience using a high-pressure washer or carpet extractor
• Pest control registration under the fumigation rules
• Chemical safety or HACCP hygiene training

• Higher hourly rate than standard cleaning
• Paid training on machines and chemicals
• Full PPE: waterproof suits, boots, goggles and respirators

• If you hold a heights or rope access ticket, attach it. It can double what you earn in this line of work.
• Say you are available for night and shutdown work. That is when most factory hygiene cleaning happens.
