Lodge Housekeeper (Game Reserve)

Guests at a game lodge in Mokopane will never meet you, but they will judge the stay by your work. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a game lodge in Mokopane. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date

• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Well groomed
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Honest, since you work in guests' rooms alone

• Experience with industrial laundry machines
• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
