Industrial Relations Practitioner – Immediate Start

This retail chain region in Alberton needs an HR person who knows labour law and the shop floor. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Alberton, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Coordinate training and submit SETA grant claims on time.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.
• Track leave, absenteeism and sick notes and act on patterns.
• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Advise line managers on the Labour Relations Act and the BCEA.
• Compile the Employment Equity report and the Workplace Skills Plan.

• Good report writing and Excel
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation
• Valid driver's licence for multi-site roles

• Company car or travel allowance for site visits
• CPD and SABPP fees paid
• Medical aid and provident fund contributions
• Annual performance bonus

• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
