Infection Control Cleaner

You'll keep a private hospital in Tembisa safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a private hospital on the Tembisa side of Gauteng. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit

• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Respectful and discreet around patients
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Matric or Grade 11
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Calm under pressure in busy wards

• Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare
• An infection prevention and control short course

• Shift allowances for nights and Sundays
• On-the-job infection control training
• Medical aid option through the employer
