Lodge Housekeeper (Game Reserve)

Housekeeping at a boutique guesthouse in Rosslyn is steady work with room to grow into supervising. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Rosslyn-based, with most of your time spent at a boutique guesthouse. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included

• Grade 10 or matric
• Well groomed
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor

• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Experience with industrial laundry machines
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience

• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Share of the service charge or guest tips

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
