Installation Electrician (Wireman's Licence)

This is hands-on electrical work in Coega: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Coega; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies

• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces

• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
• Working at Heights certificate still in date

• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

• Many applicants forget to attach the trade test certificate itself. Recruiters often skip CVs that only mention it.
• If you have issued CoCs before, say how many and for what type of property.
