Job Description

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the coal mine engineering workshop near Ermelo. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Location: Ermelo, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What you'll actually do

Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
Order spares and track them through the engineering store

You'll need

Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science

Extra points for

Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
