Intermediate Phase Teacher (Grade 5)

You'll plan and teach CAPS lessons that stick at a public high school in Lephalale. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a public high school in Lephalale. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Set, mark and moderate formal assessment tasks for the term
• Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and district workshops
• Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
• Keep learner profiles and a tidy teacher file for subject advisers
• Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term
• Use data projectors, smartboards or tablets where the school has them

• Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching
• Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
• Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
• You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control
• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach

• Comfortable with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams for homework
• Experience marking for the NSC or IEB
• Honours degree in your subject or in education management
