Irrigation Assistant (Crop Farm) – Immediate Start

Outdoor work with your hands on a citrus farm near Ermelo; no experience needed for most posts. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Ermelo-based, with most of your time spent at a citrus farm. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown

• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders
• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Willing to start at sunrise

• Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees
• Previous harvest or picking experience

• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage

• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
