IT Infrastructure Engineer (Hybrid Environment) – Experienced

Patch, monitor, back up and harden systems at an university IT department in Centurion. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is an university IT department on the Centurion side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Handle access requests and keep records that support POPIA compliance
• Document network diagrams and change records
• Manage users, groups and conditional access in Entra ID
• Monitor servers, links and firewalls and act on alerts
• Troubleshoot load-shedding related outages and UPS failures
• Run and test backups, and do regular restore drills
• Plan hardware refreshes and licence renewals with a budget

• Degree or diploma in IT, plus relevant certifications
• Solid TCP/IP, routing, switching and firewall knowledge
• At least 3 years in systems, network or cloud administration
• Strong Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 skills, or Linux for Linux posts
• Scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python

• CCNA, Fortinet NSE or MikroTik certification
• Experience with SIEM tools such as Microsoft Sentinel or Wazuh
• Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or AWS Solutions Architect Associate
