Job Description

Get hands-on support experience at a group of private schools in Pietermaritzburg, from password resets to new laptop builds. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a group of private schools on the Pietermaritzburg side of KwaZulu-Natal.

What you'll actually do

Log, prioritise and update tickets on the service desk system
Troubleshoot Outlook, Teams and OneDrive problems for users
Escalate network and server faults to second or third line with good notes
Install and configure printers, scanners and docking stations
Keep the asset register up to date when equipment moves
Visit branches or sites to fix issues that need hands on the machine
Write short how-to guides for common user problems

Must-haves

Patient and friendly with non-technical users
Code B driver's licence and own car for field posts
Basic networking: IP addresses, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi
Matric plus an IT qualification, such as CompTIA A+ or an IT diploma
At least 1 year of help desk or desktop support (not needed for intern posts)
Working knowledge of Windows 10 and 11 and Microsoft 365

Extra points for

CompTIA Network+ or Microsoft MD-102 certification
Experience with Intune or SCCM for device management
