Job Description

You'll build and ship features that real users touch every day, for an e-commerce platform in Johannesburg CBD. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at an e-commerce platform in Johannesburg CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab

You'll need

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days

Extra points for

Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Docker and Kubernetes experience
