Job Description

A fintech start-up in Paarl needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a fintech start-up on the Paarl side of Western Cape. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

The work, day to day

Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind

You'll need

Experience writing automated tests
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build

Nice if you have

Docker and Kubernetes experience
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
