Junior Bookkeeper (Xero)

A small accounting practice in Benoni needs a bookkeeper who closes the month on time, every month. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a small accounting practice on the Benoni side of Gauteng. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation
• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out
• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation

• Matric with Accounting
• Understanding of VAT input and output rules
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas

• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys
• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper
• Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks

• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Office hours with no weekend work
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
