Junior Bookkeeper (Xero)

You'll keep the books clean and up to date for a motor dealership in Centurion. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a motor dealership in Centurion. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
• Prepare VAT201 workings for the accountant to submit on SARS eFiling
• Update customer credit limits and put accounts on hold when needed
• Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers

• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
• Understanding of VAT input and output rules

• Experience with inventory costing in a trading business
• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys
• Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks

• Hybrid work after probation at some practices

• Office hours with no weekend work
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams

• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
• Say how far you take the books, for example "to trial balance" or "to management accounts"; it tells recruiters your level.
