Junior Bookkeeper (Xero)

Every invoice, payment and bank line at this small accounting practice in Stellenbosch goes through your hands. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll report in Stellenbosch. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
• Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
• Prepare VAT201 workings for the accountant to submit on SARS eFiling
• Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
• Update customer credit limits and put accounts on hold when needed
• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers

• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• Matric with Accounting
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work

• Office hours with no weekend work
• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams

• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
• Name the accounting packages you use daily in your CV headline, such as "Sage Pastel Partner, Xero, Excel".
