Job Description

Good with CAD and serious about accuracy? This engineering design office in Phalaborwa could use you. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Phalaborwa, Limpopo, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What you'll actually do

Produce bills of materials from 3D models
Update drawings after engineer comments and track revisions
Take site measurements to check existing conditions
Check shop drawings from subcontractors against design drawings
Prepare electrical single line diagrams and cable routing drawings
Model steel structures in Tekla and produce shop drawings and cutting lists
Draw general arrangements, details and fabrication drawings in AutoCAD or Inventor

What you need

At least 2 years working as a draughtsperson in your discipline
Good time planning when several projects need drawings at once
Able to read engineers' mark-ups and ask the right questions
Understanding of engineering drawing standards and tolerances
Advanced skills in AutoCAD plus one 3D package

Helpful, not essential

Workshop or site background
Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineering Technician
Experience with plant piping design software
