Job Description

The main building contractor in Kempton Park needs a QS who can price a tender and still defend a final account. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll report in Kempton Park. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What you'll actually do

Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
Prepare the final account at the end of the project
Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager

What you need

You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor

Nice if you have

Estimating software experience on top of Excel
Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
