TLB Operator (Civil Works)

The plant hire company in Mamelodi needs an operator who looks after the machine as well as the job. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Mamelodi, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off
• Load tipper trucks without spillage or overloading
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers
• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals

• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• Willing to work on projects outside your home town

• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
• Refresher training on new machines

• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
• You will likely do a practical test on the machine. Do the walk-around check out loud. It shows you work safely.
