Junior Quantity Surveyor (Private Practice)

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Mthatha. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a civils and earthworks contractor in Mthatha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules

• Code 08 licence for site visits
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying

• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS

• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Travel allowance for site visits
• Study support for an honours degree

• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
