Job Description

The high-rise residential project in Somerset West needs a safety officer who is on the site, not stuck in the container office. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The site is in Somerset West; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time

Must-haves

At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
You write clear reports in English
SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
First Aid Level 1 at least
SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014

Nice if you have

Diploma in Safety Management
ISO 45001 internal auditor course
