Junior Safety Officer (Housing Projects) – Permanent

The municipal infrastructure project in Vereeniging needs a safety officer who is on the site, not stuck in the container office. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Vereeniging-based, with most of your time spent at a municipal infrastructure project. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment
• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements

• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• You write clear reports in English
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight

• Laptop and data for reporting
• Travel and site allowances
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD

• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
