Senior Quantity Surveyor (Civil Projects) – Permanent

Make sure every rand on site is counted, claimed and certified for the quantity surveying practice in Vanderbijlpark. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The site is in Vanderbijlpark; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early

• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying

• Honours degree in Quantity Surveying
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel

• Study support for an honours degree
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Travel allowance for site visits
• Hybrid days in the office and on site
