Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at a software development house in Pietermaritzburg. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll be based at a software development house in Pietermaritzburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Document how your features work for support and new developers
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work

You'll need

A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Experience writing automated tests
