Kitchen Assistant (Prep & Scullery)

Want to grow as a chef? This conference centre kitchen in Brackenfell gives you real stations and real volume. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The work is in Brackenfell, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day.

• Clean down your section, deep-clean the fryer and scrub the extractor filters.
• Run your station during service and call back every ticket from the pass.
• Receive deliveries, check weights and reject short-dated produce.
• Help cost recipes and track waste on the weekly sheet.
• Cook for banquets and conference lunches of 100 to 400 guests.

• Comfortable in heat, on your feet, for long split shifts
• Good knife skills and you can prep at speed
• Weekend, holiday and evening work is part of the deal
• A culinary certificate or City & Guilds, or solid on-the-job experience
• You take instruction from the head chef without drama

• Chef whites and safety shoes provided
• Transport allowance for split and late shifts
• Two staff meals per shift

• Expect a trade test: bring your own knives, arrive early and clean as you go the whole time.
• Do not leave gaps unexplained; if you did casual banquet work between jobs, say so on your CV.
