Legal Counsel (Compliance and POPIA)

A debt recovery law firm in Lephalale needs an attorney who can draft, advise and stand up in court. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Lephalale-based, with most of your time spent at a debt recovery law firm. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Record billable time and hit the monthly target
• Appear in the magistrate's court, CCMA, Labour Court or High Court as your matters need
• Keep trust account instructions and fee notes accurate
• Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements
• Supervise and train candidate attorneys and paralegals
• Review company processes for POPIA and privacy compliance
• Brief counsel and prepare them for trial and opposed motions

• Strong drafting and legal research
• LLB and admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa
• Sound judgement under deadline pressure
• Right of appearance in the High Court for litigation posts

• Experience on bank or insurer panels
• Certificate in data protection or compliance

• Hybrid work outside court days
• Medical aid and retirement fund
• Paid LPC fees and CPD
• Clear path to directorship at some firms

• Lead with your admission year, practice area and the courts or forums you appear in.
• Give a short matter list with outcomes, stripped of client names, to prove your experience.
