Job Description

This residential plumbing company in Pietermaritzburg needs a plumber who arrives on time, fixes it properly and leaves the site clean. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Pietermaritzburg-based, with most of your time spent at a residential plumbing company. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What you'll actually do

Order fittings from the supplier and keep the van stocked
Service booster pumps, pressure tanks and water storage tanks
Work on the emergency call-out roster for after-hours bursts
Install and repair soil and waste pipes to SANS 10400 Part P
Take photos and complete the insurer's claim report after each geyser job
Fit toilets, basins, showers and mixers to the client's chosen finishes
Trace hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture readings

What you need

Code 08 licence and a clean driving record
PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
At least 3 years as a qualified plumber, including geyser replacements
Working knowledge of SANS 10252-1 and SANS 10254
Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)
Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs
