Life Sciences Teacher (Independent High School) – Permanent

You'll plan and teach CAPS lessons that stick at a low-fee private school in Randburg. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a low-fee private school on the Randburg side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term
• Use data projectors, smartboards or tablets where the school has them
• Plan weekly lessons against the CAPS annual teaching plan
• Give extra lessons to learners who are falling behind
• Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams
• Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines
• Keep learner profiles and a tidy teacher file for subject advisers

• Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
• Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach
• Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
• At least 1 year of classroom teaching, including teaching practice

• Experience with remedial or inclusive education
• Experience marking for the NSC or IEB
• Honours degree in your subject or in education management
