Job Description

Teach at a public high school in Tzaneen where your planning, marking and patience all count. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Home base is a public high school on the Tzaneen side of Limpopo. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

  • Meet parents to discuss progress, behaviour and support plans
  • Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams
  • Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term
  • Keep learner profiles and a tidy teacher file for subject advisers
  • Set, mark and moderate formal assessment tasks for the term
  • Give extra lessons to learners who are falling behind
  • Teach your allocated classes and keep the pace of the ATP

Must-haves

  • Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
  • Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching
  • Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
  • A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach

Extra points for

  • Comfortable with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams for homework
  • Experience with remedial or inclusive education
